Hello, Thought I'd share an impression from this afternoon's coin sorting.
It went something like this:
After lighting candles and incense, putting the music player on random, and cleaning up in and around the coin table/alter, I sat down to continue my opening rituals, which is simply opening the blue velvet Norton Street pennies and placing my magic find ring on my finger. As I slipped the ring on my finger, a mood descended. I felt a tiny bit priestly. I don't like to categorize moods, but that phrase will have to suffice.
More importantly, I saw the penny sorting from a new perspective. The rolls of coins passing across my table and through my attention were being radiated. This was their contact with a higher purpose. Previously, I perceived the sorting/searching as part of my process, my learning...in this moment, I saw the sorting/searching for the benefit of the coins.
There's more, but I'll save it rather than contain it with words.

I come home from work this evening and find a small package in the mail from the IDHHB (Institute for the Development of the Harmonious Human Being). It's a Lincoln Wheat Penny (1921), the First American Halloween, searched and found by Coinologist E.J. Gold. I open the package with my Junior Coinologist Son, Alex (Age 7).
I knew this was a coin approaching 100 years but I had forgotten it was a WHEAT! We both squealed with excitement! The World of Coin Collecting is one of Big Bucks but, as E.J. tells us in his blogs repeatedly, "It's NOT about the money!"
Gold is RIGHT! The Joy, Excitement and Fun forms a Bridge of Love!
I spoke with Co-worker today who has remained connected to her Grandfather through the discovery of Pennies in the World. Grandpa touched her time and again with so many "random" pennies, all discovered heads up. When Grandma passed, coins appeared tails up.
It's not about the MONEY. It's about LOVE.
MAYBE we'll hit some wonderful coin that will cash in rent for the next ten years. But if we don't-?
We are having so much fun and learning so much! And this costs NOTHING!
Search your coins rolls and, if it's all crap, take it back to the bank and get another!
Every Penny is a Karmic Matrix. We may put it back into circulation (reincarnation) or flip and slab. Either way, we're bestowing the Essence of Bodhisattva.
Between you and me, I can't believe I'm doing this. Is there a hobby more dull than collecting PENNIES?
Yet, I've been sucked in and the Penny Search IS very "Indiana Jones."
From Video Games to the Most Common Currency, I offer a Grateful THANK YOU to GOREBAGG.

I wanted to tell you that while the ICW was going on today I was penny searching and found a 1970 S small date. I couldn't believe it. It's in good shape probably a vf - 20 or so. It blew me away because I was recently watching a video of a guy who cherry picks from ebay for these types of errors... he's pretty interesting.
I am thoroughly enjoying the penny searching. I am also grateful for the work that you guys and EJ are doing. The coinology work is so much fun in so many different ways and I know that I wouldn't have been aware of it if not for EJ's guidance. Also if you look at how other folks search coins on youtube you don't generally see the precision and elegance of the method that we are being taught. Small details are included that we take for granted...but for the incorporation of 'something slightly different' are hugely important. This is a wonderful path with numismerous possibilities and I hope to share it with many others.
Best.. G (N.Y.)
